Happy Birthday, America! On July 4, 1776, America claimed its independence from Britain and Democracy was born. The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of many dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans everywhere celebrate freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. Independence Day is a day of family and friends celebrations with picnics and barbecues, showing a great deal of emphasis on the American tradition of political freedom. It wouldn't be Independence Day without fireworks.
Tyrone Willis definitely participated in the many July 4th festivities that included a reading of the Declaration of Independence at Bayou Bend and concluded with a Freedom Over Texas spectacular fireworks display in Downtown Houston. Southwest Airlines sponsored Freedom Over Texas on Saturday, July 4, 2015 from 4-10 p.m. at Eleanor Tinsley Park. There were five entertainment zones that included music and family entertainment featuring music recording artists Clint Black and Josh Turner. Those who could not attend watched the fireworks show on KTRK-ABC 13.
Yasmin Eleby recently married herself in a beautiful candlelight ceremony at the Houston Museum of African American Culture (HMAAC) on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Family and friends were in attendance to support Yasmin Eleby who is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. in marrying herself. Marrying yourself I believe is simply an expression of self love. Someone asked me how do you marry yourself? My reply is simply self love and to acknowledge that you are in a relationship with yourself. Congratulations Yasmin Eleby!
