UNICEF’S AUDREY HEPBURN SOCIETY BALL 2017

Supporters of The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are in action as it recently hosted its fourth annual Audrey Hepburn Society Ball to honor and pay tribute to UNICEF’s Ambassador and actress Angie Harmon with the Spirit of Compassion Award for all of her philanthropic contributions on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Downtown Houston. Rosanette and Harry Cullen were presented with the Margaret Alkek Williams Humanitarian Award for their extraordinary contributions to the causes of children, health, and education in the city of Houston and the state of Texas through the Cullen Foundation. Remarks were given by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner with more than 450 guests in attendance.

The stellar evening lived up to its name and was as beautiful as Audrey Hepburn, herself, as her philanthropic spirit definitely filled the air. UNICEF continues to work in more than 190 countries around the world to improve and save children’s lives by providing clean water, health care, education, and emergency relief. According to UNICEF’s website, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States. UNICEF’s mission is to prevent children from dying from preventable causes and for every child to have a safe and healthy childhood.

After a stellar performance by Grammy award-winning recording artist Michael Bolton, a live auction took place which included a trip to the Academy Awards show, a custom Victor Costa gown, Nini Jewels “Royale Collection” earrings weighing 47 carats from Saks Fifth Avenue, an intimate concert experience by Grammy Award Winner Ana María Martínez and a luxurious vacation in a private house with personal chef in San Miguel, Mexico. The event raised more than $910,000 with the help of Margaret Alkek Williams.
