Meet Tyrone Willis: The man behind "Houston's Buzz"

Tyrone Willis currently serves as Society Editor for the Forward Times Newspaper in Houston. Tyrone is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. Tyrone’s major was Political Science, and his interests include politics, public relations in city planning, and communication.  Tyrone is a native Houstonian – a home grown Texan!  He attended Westbury Christian School in Houston, Texas where he gained interest in community involvement. During his senior year, he was appointed to the City of Houston Mayor’s Youth Council representing District B.

This further sparked his interest in city planning and politics. During his college experience, he was Historian of Richmond’s First Club located in Richmond, Va. and President of the National Black Law Student Association at VCU. For as Tyrone’s involvement in politics covers being a Fellow for Organizing for America Election Campaign for President Barack Obama (2008, 2012).  He was also community liaison for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Tyrone currently serves on the Barbara Jordan Endeavors Board where he helps students with disabilities. Outside the involvement of media and politics, Tyrone loves to attend sporting events and play video games.
